Experience the Nostalgia of Destin, Florida

If you have ever found yourself dreaming of living inside a postcard, maybe it’s time to plan your escape to Destin. This beach town is known as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” but has quickly grown up and become a busy tourist destination over the past decades. This history of Destin is still alive and breathing. Make sure to visit some of our favorite spots to experience the nostalgia of Destin.

Destin Marina

If you’re looking for a day on the water then look no further than Destin’s own marina. Since 1970, this marina has been offering local and visiting boaters to launch and dock their boats. This is also a popular destination for anglers, so if you are interested in grabbing some bait, tackle, or fishing rods to try your luck you can find it here.

Back Porch

Part of the history and identity of Destin is intertwined with the town’s food. Many restaurants have come and gone, but those that remain – for over twenty years – place a significant imprint on the community. The Back Porch has been serving fresh seafood since 1974 with a full-fledged menu of different options in addition to its signature crab cakes.

Harbor Docks

Harbor Docks is where locals go to have a drink on the docks, enjoy fresh seafood, and listen to live music. When owner Charles Morgan opened the restaurant in 1979 he had little more than six picnic tables and two coolers, but today it boasts 230 seats and several different types of cuisines. Of course, the restaurant serves up fresh Gulf seafood daily, but it also offers sushi, Thai and southern comfort food cooked by several specialty chefs.

Banana Bart’s

Looking for a souvenir shop that will remind you of the good ole days in Destin? Look no further than Banana Bart’s, a bright yellow, blue and red old-style vacation home on the harbor in Destin since 1985. With its fascinating and alluring variety of gifts and knick-knacks from the world of both land and sea and treasures spanning from jewelry made by local artisans to pewter ships and anchors, decorative plates and dishes to hand blown glassware, Banana Bart’s has untouched curiosities for local collectors and curious tourists alike.

Dewey Destin’s Seafood Restaurant

Destin's Seafood Restaurants, known for their fresh seafood and family atmosphere, is owned by Dewey Destin, Okaloosa County Commissioner and great-great-grandson of the founder of Destin, Leonard Destin. While the restaurant itself is only 15 years old, there has been a building on Hwy 98 that has housed a seafood restaurant for over 25 years. The newest Dewey Destin's restaurant is located one lot down from the original location and offers delicious food in both lunch and dinner options.
